Ippocalyptica This is probably the best album by Belenos, though all are worthy of exploration for any fan of pagan and atmospheric black metal. I find a lot in common here with the early black metal albums of Norway’s Aeternus, and to a much lesser extent, Denmark’s Angantyr. I can also feel in Spicilège the early DNA of what we would later see in other French black metal bands like Aorlhac. Everything about this album exudes complete class and confidence, and I never tire of listening to it. Favorite track: Terre de brume.
